Dark Horse Preps Predators Prequel, Sequel

As well as an adaptation

They can’t say much about their respective projects, but Marc Andreyko, Paul Tobin and David Lapham have been hired by Dark Horse comics to do an adaptation of the upcoming Predators as well as a prequel story and a sequel.

As you know, the film – directed by Nimrod Antal (Vacancy) – features an ensemble cast that includes Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins and Alice Braga. They’ve all been dropped on a hostile planet and are being hunted by Predators. With so many characters to play with, there is plenty of opportunities to explore story-wise.

“I’m actually doing a prequel and a sequel,” Lapham tells AICN in this interview, “so I get to kind of bookend the thing. What we get to do is expand on the experience. In the movie, you get to see these characters during their specific adventure. In the comics we can really dive further into what makes them tick and why things play out like they do in the movie. And we can show what bad-asses they were before. Then, on the other end, with the sequel, I get to further expand the concept of the movie and it’s possibilities going forward.”
