Is this the surprise of the season?
I’ll be honest, when The Crazies remake was announced, my interest level was moderate. While I love George Romero’s original, it’s dated. But that is part of the charm. Still, in today’s political climate, the material is ripe for a revisit. Other factors kept my interest at moderate and I get the vibe from some genre fans that they were thinking the movie would be, for lack of a better reaction, “meh.”
As we near its release, however, my excitement is building. Mostly because I’m hearing really good things from those who have seen it already (our press screening comes next week). The TV spots are effective as are the trailers. I’ve got my fingers crossed this will be a pleasant surprise.
