Locke & Key Goes to Dreamworks

Based on the Joe Hill graphic novel

Latino Review got the scoop that Dimension Films no longer holds the right to adapt the comic book Locke and Key into a feature film. Instead, writers/producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will now produce the project through their DreamWorks deal.

The original comic was written by Joe Hill (author of Heart-Shaped Box and also son of Stephen King), illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez and published by IDW Publishing.

In it, a trio of children become the caretakers of Keyhouse, a mansion in New England that is full of secrets and magic. There, the kids discover doors that take them to different places, give them powers and even alter gender and skin color. Behind one door is a dangerously violent creature.
