Have You Seen The S From Hell?

You actually know it quite well

I never knew a film company logo could invoke such drama, such fear. Needless to say, one has and it’s known as “the S from Hell,” or, the Screen Gems logo.

Filmmaker Rodney Ascher has turned the Sony symbol into the subject of an amusing docu-horror film of sorts and it’s playing at Sundance before screenings of the horror-comedy Tucker and Dale Versus Evil. The Screen Gems logo has been around since the ’60s, scaring the shit, apparently, out of kiddies. Apropos since, today, Screen Gems has a rather strong horror output releasing everything from the Underworld and Resident Evil franchises to remakes like The Stepfather.

The short film has a very John Carpenter-esque approach, from the synthesizer music (chosen for a reason) to the Jamie Lee Curtis/Escape from New York-like narration.

Enjoy…
