Bradley Cooper Searches for Dark Fields

Replacing Shai LaBeouf in suspense thriller

Variety reports that Bradley Cooper (The Midnight Meat Train) has signed on to star in Relativity Media’s suspense thriller Dark Fields. Neil Burger, director of The Illusionist is onboard to helm the project from a script by Leslie Dixon based on the novel by Alan Glynn.

Dark Fields is described as a what-if story about a designer drug that can make you rich and powerful. Eddie (Cooper) is a down-and-out New York writer until he possesses a pill that gives him the ability to access the full capacity of his brain. He soon realizes that his newfound intelligence and success come at a hefty price as mysterious forces begin to pursue him.

Shia LaBeouf was at one point attached to the project but had to bow out after his car accident that left his hand shattered and delayed shooting on Transformers 2.

Dark Fields will begin lensing in late spring 2010.
