Bill Murray on Zombieland Cameo

And “who missed the boat”?

One of the coolest things about Zobmieland was the Bill Murray cameo, but guess what? He wasn’t the director’s first choice.

At a recent round table interview to promote The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Murray was asked about the role. He revealed that he was originally approached by Woody Harrelson, and described the idea of playing himself as a zombie as “irresistible.”

He then revealed that the role was originally offered to, and turned down by, Lethal Weapon and Goodfellas veteran Joe Pesci – one of the many names up for the cameo role we told you about here.

Lamenting Pesci’s decision, Murray explained, “He’d be a spectacular zombie. Just imagine that guy with super-human powers. He’s already like that in a way. He really missed the boat on this one.”

We agree.
