Werewolf Film First for Dark Hero Studios

Watchmen writer ready to direct

David Hayter directing werewolf filmHaving met David Hayter a few times throughout the years, we can definitely say the dude is one of us. Let the resume do the talking. His writing credits include X-Men, and it’s sequel X2, The Scorpion King and Watchmen. In front of the camera he’s played the Guyver and is the voice of Solid Snake in Metal Gear Solid.

Hayter is now about to make his directorial debut on a werewolf picture called Slaughter’s Road. It will be produced through the newly formed Dark Hero Studios which Hayter is co-operating with producer Benedict Carver. (Is the company’s moniker a reference to Hayter’s past in Guyver: Dark Hero?) The focus of the production outfit is to “generate film, TV, Internet and vidgame projects in the action, sci-fi and horror genres.”

Slaughter’s Road is first up. Thomas Dekker (From Within) will star and Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone) is in talks to join the cast, too. According to Variety, Hayter conceived Road, which he also penned, after being offered a “slew of werewolf movies and found enough flaws in each to never want to make such a pic; genre-savvy friends changed his mind. Steven Paul, through Crystal Sky Productions, will co-produce.

Filming begins this summer.

Hayter is also going to write and direct Demonology which he says is “about an American kid who goes to one of these schools in Belgium, but it brings my own horrible experiences of school to life.”
