Army of the Dead is one of those projects that inches along ever so slowly. Hell, we’ve been talking about it since 2007. Last year, Matthijs van Heijningen came aboard to direct, but his commitment to another project may be stalling any work on Army.
According to producer Zack Snyder (Watchmen), the film – about a quarantined Vegas overrun with zombies – is on hold until Matthijs van Heijningen finishes Universal’s The Thing. Known for his work in commercials and music videos, Heijningen jumped aboard the latest incarnation of The Thing in January (details).
Army of the Dead, meanwhile, is set up over at Warner Bros. and is written by Joby Harold. To learn more, check out this report from ’07 in which producer Deborah Snyder dishes some plot details.
