Fourth Underworld Rumblings Begin

Final word on Beckinsale’s voice over

At yesterday’s Underworld auction within the halls of Premiere Props, ShockTillYouDrop.com learned Screen Gems was pleased with the opening weekend numbers of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and is happy with its overall performance (it has grossed nearly $50 million worldwide to date). DVD sales are sure to reinforce the prequel’s success and so talks of a fourth chapter have begun, says our source at the weekend event.

When we pressed auction guest Patrick Tatopoulos, director of the third film, for more details he said he would be happy to return in some capacity, such as FX, but he would not return to direct. Instead, he’s circling another creature-laden feature film, but would not reveal what it was to auction attendees.

He also wanted to put an end to an argument that appears to be running rampant on Internet message boards. Tatopoulos states firmly that it is indeed Kate Beckinsale who provides Lycans‘ opening and closing narration, not Rhona Mitra.
