Children of the Corn Remake Casting Call

Shooting begins this September



Donald Borchers’ Children of the Corn remake is taking root in Iowa. According to area newspaper The Quad-City Times, shooting begins in September on the redo which will air on the Sci-Fi Channel sometime in 2009. Casting is now underway.

Commenting on the original screen adaptation – which filmed in Sioux city, Iowa – Borchers says, “They put a lot of sugar, if you will, into the coffee. Stephen King doesn’t take his coffee with sugar.” He adds his take will carry a dour ending.

If you live in the area, the QC Times has provided info on where to audition if you’re interested: Casting for youth roles in the remake of “Children of the Corn” will begin Thursday and continue through Monday at The Lodge Hotel, 900 Spruce Hills Drive, Bettendorf. Casting will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2-7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, as well as 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Those auditioning are asked to bring a small photo.

The remake is budgeted at $2 million.
