Director Toying With Dimension’s New Hellraiser

He’s familiar with sweet suffering

Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury’s departure from Dimension’s Hellraiser redux has left head honcho Bob Weinstein in one helluva predicament. He’s got a release date marked (January 9, 2009) and a script (by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton), but no one to guide Pinhead back into theaters.

No tears please…

There are rumblings of a new director being courted for the remake. You may know him: Mr. Darren Lynn Bousman. Insiders tell ShockTillYouDrop.com that an offer is out to the director of Saw II, III and IV. Bousman is already slated to direct Scanners for Dimension, but with so many bogeymen finding success through franchise restarts (Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Hellraiser might take priority for the Cronenberg redo.

Shock contacted Bousman when we first heard of this news a few weeks back. The director simply replied with a, “No Hellraiser.” However, we’ve been told that answer may have changed recently.

It may pan out, it may not – we’re awaiting confirmation or denial. Bousman is currently in Canada lensing his episode of Fear Itself (details) for NBC and is awaiting word on a release date for Repo! The Genetic Opera now that the musical is complete.
