Bad Dreams, Gremlins in L.A.!

Worship the Wicker Man this holiday

If you think revival horror screenings have withered because the holiday season is upon us, you’re wrong.

The Cinefamily at the Silent Movie Theatre (611 N Fairfax Avenue) is celebrating the power of “community” this month through their “Sects, Drugs & Mind Control: Cults!” program, running December 7th – 28th. Notable participating films include Andrew Fleming’s 1988 horror film Bad Dreams, starring Richard Lynch and Jennifer Rubin (yummy), and Robin Hardy’s uncomparable and haunting The Wicker Man (can someone drop a naked, writhing Britt Ekland in my stocking this year?).

“Dreams” screams, er, screens on December 14th at 10pm, hail to “The Wicker Man” on December 21st at 10pm and then again at midnight. For the full program rundown, click here.

Turning to a staple from my youth – and a must-see film every Christmas for this writer – Joe Dante’s Gremlins is appearing at the Arclight Cinemas in Hollywood. Showtime is at 8pm on Christmas Eve (perfect!). For ticket info and location, click here.
