Messengers starlet vamps out
The Messengers‘ Kristen Stewart signed up for the leading role in Twilight, a star-crossed lovers affair mixing mortals and vampires.
The actress will play Bella Swan, the lead of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling teenage books upon which the film is based on. Swan is a teen relocated to live with her father; soon after settling into her new school she falls for a young man who is also a vampire. Stewart recently appeared in Sean Penn’s Into the Wild.
Shooting begins in February and Summit Entertainment (P2), Twilight‘s distributor, is hoping to crack a franchise with this one.
Melissa Rosenberg penned the script; she’s also credited with Step Up and Showtime’s “Dexter.” On directing duties is Catherine Hardwicke
