Yen Slips into Painted Skin

Supernatural thriller with some kick

Director Wilson Yip Wai-shun has cast Donnie Yen in the supernatural-action hybrid Painted Skin.

Adapted from the “Strange Tales of Liaozhai,” a 12-volume anthology written by Pu Songling in the 17th century, this period revenge fable tells of the “love hate relationship between a vixen spirit and a group of humans.” Shooting begins either later this year or in early 2008 with the aim to release “Skin,” a China-Singapore production, at the end of next year.

Yen was previously directed by Wai-shun in Dragon Tiger Gate, but you may remember him kickin’ Reaper ass as “Snowman” in Guillermo del Toro’s Blade II.
