Gold Circle Births New Daughter

Labyrinth star takes lead

Pan’s Labyrinth‘s Ivana Baquero is set to star as a troubled young woman in Gold Circle Films’ The New Daughter. It’s her first English-speaking role after her turn in last year’s critically-acclaimed Guillermo del Toro-directed fantasy. Circle solidified her place in the film before locking down a director. John Travis’ script adaptation is currently going out to potential helmers.

Based on the short story by Irish author John Connolly, the film focuses on a father whose restless daughter may be influenced by a mound in the fields surrounding his farm. “Daughter” first appeared in Connolly’s 2004 supernatural collection “Nocturnes.”

Paul Brooks is on board to produce, he also shepherded Slither, the “White Noise” films, Joel Schumacher’s upcoming Town Creek and the forthcoming A Haunting in Connecticut.
