Exclusive Prevenge Clip Reveals an Evil Fetus

Audacious pregnancy horror film Prevenge now in theaters and on Shudder

Settling down after a very fertile international festival run, actress, writer and director Alice (Ben Wheatley’s Sightseers, the charming Paddington) Lowe’s pitch black, wryly British horror comedy Prevenge has finally made itself available to general audiences…but are they ready for it? Prevenge opened theatrically in New York and LA last week and is now streaming on horror specialty channel Shudder. It’s one of the weirdest auteur horror movies made in many a moon.

Prevenge follows Ruth (Lowe), a pregnant woman on a killing spree. It’s her misanthropic unborn baby dictating Ruth’s actions, holding society responsible for the absence of a father. The child speaks to Ruth from the womb, coaching her to lure and ultimately kill her unsuspecting victims. Struggling with her conscience, loneliness, and a strange strain of pre-partum madness, Ruth must ultimately choose between redemption and destruction at the moment of motherhood.

Prevenge marks the directorial debut from Lowe who is a true triple threat, writing, directing, and acting in the film during her own real-life pregnancy.  It received a British Independent Film Award nomination for Best Directorial Debut. As it should have! Pregnant artist makes a movie about a pregnant woman psycho with an evil baby made during her actual pregnancy. Nope. Never been done.

To celebrate the audacity of this movie and to inspire you to find a way to see it, we have an exclusive clip from the film to share below. See if it draws out your own innate maternal instincts…
