Steve Burton’s Jason will return to General Hospital next month
Steve Burton is set to return as Jason on July 13, a day that also marks the show’s 16,000th episode. Head Writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten shared details about the upcoming storyline involving his character following his imprisonment.
They said, “Jason returns from abroad a changed man. His imprisonment has had a profound effect on his outlook and how he intends to conduct the rest of his life. His decision will have big implications for Danny, Britt, the Quartermaines, Anna, and especially Sonny” (via Soap Opera Digest).
In February, Burton took to Instagram to announce that he’s temporarily stepping away from General Hospital. He cited his recent marriage and a desire to spend time with family as the reasons for this decision. Burton further extended his gratitude for fans’ continued love and support while reassuring them that he will be back this summer.
Earlier, he also shed light on what could be expected after his short break. He revealed that Sonny might turn to Ric to bring his character home.
“I don’t know the [current] dynamic. I don’t know anything about Ric. I don’t know anything about their relationship, if Sonny and Ric are damaged. I’m not sure if Ric has reformed at all. [But] I like the idea, as Steve. I like it, because I like Rick [Hearst]. And especially when I come back, it’s going to be a problem like it used to be in the old days. So, I think that’s pretty cool,” he explained (via Soap Opera Digest).
