Viewers are curious to know whether Peacock has canceled or renewed Ted for Season 3. Created by Seth MacFarlane, the fantasy comedy series follows a living teddy bear named Ted, who returns to regular life with his best friend John after experiencing moments of fame.
He settles in with the rest of the household: John’s father, mother, and cousin. While Ted can be perceived as a problematic influence in John’s life, he always sticks by his side whenever trouble arises. With Season 2 having concluded recently, many want to know if an additional outing is on the horizon.
Has Peacock canceled Ted or renewed for Season 3?
Peacock has neither canceled or renewed Ted for a Season 3.
However, creator MacFarlane recently revealed that there are “no direct plans” for another outing as of now in an interview with ScreenRant.
There are speculations that MacFarlane could be looking to conclude the series’ chapter with Season 2, ending the story during the characters’ teenage years. This is because both seasons satisfactorily covered the character’s junior and senior years, providing a fitting closing point before the creator potentially moves on to explore John’s adult life in future installments.
Additionally, during the renewal of Season 2, it was reported that the network was considering canceling the series due to its expensive production. So, there are chances that the high costs might be the reason Peacock may not be able to fund another outing, which leaves the series’ fate uncertain.
While Ted Season 3 might or might not happen in the future, MacFarlane recently revealed that they are bringing the series animated format to screens. He also mentioned the reason behind preferring an animated installment over another live-action outing.
“It’s interesting. Initially, the idea of doing an animated show came about because it’s such an undertaking to produce this series. It’s a half-hour comedy, but it has the feel of a half-hour, single-camera comedy,” MacFarlane said in an interview with ComicBook.com
He continued, “I think, oftentimes, people don’t realize that it’s like you are doing an Avengers movie every 20 minutes with the amount of CGI and the amount of care and skill and brilliant animators, both here and in Melbourne, Australia, who lend their talents to bringing this bear to life.”
Moreover, he also revealed that doing an animated series allowed them to bring together Mark Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried, which couldn’t have been possible in live action due to the actors’ busy schedules. As such, it opened the door for both of them to record about an hour’s worth of voiceover, which could feasibly fit into their schedules.
