Then, she is revealed to be sitting in a room, with the words “Wednesday must die” written on the wall.
Who is Winona Ryder playing in Wednesday Season 3, if not Ophelia?
Ryder is playing the guest role of Tabitha in Wednesday Season 3. Not much is known about this new character. It is to be noted that Ophelia will be played by Eva Green, who’s known for playing antagonistic and complex characters.
Director and executive producer Tim Burton confirmed in a statement that Ryder, who has previously worked with him on Beetlejuice and its sequel, will be joining the Wednesday franchise. He wrote, “I am so happy that Winona has joined us, she fits right into this world. And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her (via Variety).”
Upon the announcement, many fans took to X (formerly Twitter), sharing their thoughts on Ryder’s role, with many speculating that she could be Ophelia. One fan wrote, “Winona as Ophelia? Bold. She’ll haunt that role beautifully.” Another added, “Possibly as Ophelia?” A third one mentioned, “So she gon be Ophelia?” However, Netflix released a teaser announcing the cast members, which further clarified everyone’s doubts. The series is currently in production near Dublin.
Apart from Ryder and Green, other new cast members also include Chris Sarandon, Noah Taylor, Oscar Morgan, and Kennedy Moyer. In conversation with Tudum, co-creator and co-showrunner Miles Millar teased what fans can expect from the upcoming installment. He said, “We will be seeing more Addams family members and learning more family secrets in Season 3!”
Wednesday Season 3 is expected to come out sometime in 2027.
