Parry Shen on what’s ahead for Britt and Brad after Reunion on General Hospital
In an exclusive interview with Soap Opera Digest, Parry Shen opened up about what the moment meant to him and why the reunion with Kelly Thiebaud’s Britt Westbourne felt so natural.
“With how much history Brad has had with Britt, and leaving off on such a high point in their relationship three years ago… I was extremely interested and excited to explore how a reunion under these circumstances would play out,” Shen shared.
The on-screen reunion was emotional, and Shen said working with Thiebaud felt natural since they stayed in touch after her exit. “Kelly and I have actually hung out many times and kept more in contact with each other since she left,” he said, adding that their long history made slipping back into their roles simple.
On the show, Brad quickly let go of his anger after finding out Britt was alive and Shen said it made sense for him to forgive her so fast. “Initially, he was understandably furious,” Shen explained. “But he’s now somewhat heard the explanations over the past few months through the rumor mill, paired with the passage of time and having this gift of his best friend being returned, has quelled his anger,” he further stated.
With Britt and Brad reunited, Shen said fans can expect more of what made the duo so popular, adding that some real-life details even made it into the script. He shared that he and Kelly Thiebaud bonded over their love of dirty vodka martinis.
Looking ahead, Shen made it clear that Britt and Brad are about to be in full form again. He said, “The writers were definitely in the zone writing some wonderfully delicious scenes that will make you say, ‘OMG, of course this would happen with these two knuckleheads.'”
