Gibbs and Diane get married at the end of NCIS: Origins Season 2 fall finale
The fall finale of NCIS: Origins takes Gibbs’ love life in a shocking direction. Diane tells Gibbs she got a job offer in Los Angeles and wants him to move with her so they can see where their relationship goes. Gibbs refuses because his family and life are in his hometown.
Diane doesn’t want a long-distance relationship and decides to break up with him. At work, the team notices Gibbs acting strange after the breakup. Lala doesn’t know what’s going on as she is dealing with her own pain — her favorite informant, Twitchy Ton, has been shot (via soaps.sheknows.com).
Flashbacks show Lala recovering after her hospital stay, with coworkers visiting her. Randy also reveals Gibbs and Diane’s breakup, but Lala claims, “That’s great. I’m happy for him.” Afterwards, Franks delivers more bad news to Lala that she failed her fitness test and gets a desk job which she doesn’t want.
Back in the main timeline, Lala finally confronts Gibbs for not visiting her after she left the hospital. Gibbs admits he and Diane ended things because Diane misunderstood what he meant by family. Lala calls him out and says he always pushes people away when he gets scared.
She tells him Diane is a great person and he made a mistake. Lala’s words push Gibbs to take action. Diane shows up at his apartment and Gibbs tells her he doesn’t want to end their relationship. Diane agrees to try long-distance and that decision leads to a wild twist.
Gibbs reveals in a voiceover that he took Lala’s advice “too far.” He got drunk in Las Vegas and married Diane. The episode ends with young Gibbs and Diane standing at the altar. This moment shows how his future ex-wife became his first spouse.
The fall finale leaves these questions open as the show prepares to return on February 24, 2026, at 9/8c on CBS.
