Josh Swickard, who plays Harrison Chase on General Hospital, has recently addressed whether Willow Tait shot Drew Cain. In a recent interview, Swickard explained Chase’s inclination to believe in and fight for Willow, and also addressed Willow’s importance as Chase’s first love. He also discussed Chase’s sympathy for Willow and his understanding of the trauma she has gone through.

Josh Swickard’s Chase wants to save ‘his big first love’ Willow
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Josh Swickard was asked why Chase felt like helping Willow, who was arrested and charged with shooting Drew.
“Well, I think that Chase tries to be objective as a cop, and everybody gets to choose which evidence they’re looking at,” Swickard replied. He added that Chase was possibly electing to ignore some evidence and look at others. The actor further stated that although Chase was happy with his current wife, Brook Lynn, he still held some feelings for Willow, which he wanted to honor.
Swickard stressed that Chase’s biggest strength, which was also his biggest flaw, was his desire to stand up for people who couldn’t stand up for themselves. He noted that while Michael had a strong support system, as well as lawyers and financial resources that could help him defend himself, Willow lacked similar support, as no one defended her because of some of her decisions. “Chase is always the guy going, ‘I get those decisions. I got you,’” he further stated.
Swickard also revealed why Chase deeply believed in Willow’s innocence, attributing it to his “savior complex” and how he saw firsthand how Willow suffered. He highlighted Willow’s terrible past with the sex cult Dawn of Day — whose leader, Shiloh, impregnated her with a baby boy — and her troubles with Drew, and added that Chase has decided Willow was a “good person.”
“And so he may be seeing the evidence through those goggles a little bit, but there are still holes in the evidence,” he continued. “I think he’s just holding out hope that, “Hey, before anyone goes to jail, let’s just really look into this. I’m not saying she did or didn’t do it necessarily, but why are we arresting her when we could be looking at other people?”
