Mouch’s recent absences from Chicago Fire Season 14 have left fans wondering whether he will leave the show. Following the show’s latest episode, many are concerned about Randall McHolland and his team’s future on the show.
Here’s everything we know so far.
Is Mouch really leaving Chicago Fire in Season 14?
There has been no official report confirming that Christian Stolte’s Mouch is leaving Chicago Fire.
Chicago Fire Season 14, Episode 7, titled “Pierce the Vein,” expanded on CFD’s recent budget cuts and their impact on the multiple departments. Among them, Mouch’s Engine 51 seems to be the next victim. The season premiere had shown the ripples of the budget cut when Mouch and his team were abruptly relieved from their shift.
In the latest episode, Chicago Mayor’s Office Chief of Staff Annette Davis shed some light on the budget cut. During a personal dinner with Chief Pascal, she told him, “There’s no easy way to say this. We asked the CFD for a list of rigs that could be permanently decommissioned. One of those rigs is in your battalion.”
When Pascal asked which one it was, Davis revealed that it was Randall McHolland’s Engine Company 51. While the department is in danger of permanent decommission, Mouch has already hatched a plan to save it from going under. The fall finale saw McHolland pitch for a Universal Compartment Protocol (UCP) for the CFD.
According to Mouch, the “crazy rig rotations” are affecting the efficiency of the firefighters. “It’s high time we instituted department-wide standards for compartment organization,” McHolland stated.
Chief Pascal was on board with the idea, adding that it needs to “translate into dollars and cents” for the CFD to pay attention. This might be the only hope for the department to stay afloat.
Despite facing threats of decommission, Christian Stolte’s Randall McHolland remains a notable figure in the show. NBC has not made any statements to confirm his departure from the show anytime soon.
