Following Bluebird “Blue” Gleeson’s absence during the NCIS: Sydney premiere, fans are wondering if the character is leaving the show. During a recent interview, the show’s co-creator, Morgan O’Neill, shared some details about the character.
Here’s what the show creator said.

Has Mavournee Hazel’s Blue left NCIS: Sydney?
In an interview with TV Insider, Morgan O’Neill, the show’s co-creator and writer, spoke about Mavournee Hazel’s Blue and the mystery woman from the Season 2 finale.
“The end of the second season of NCIS: Sydney ends with Blue coming home after Darwin,” O’Neill said, recounting the events in the Season 2 finale. “There is a strange lady sitting in her living room, and from the expression on Blue’s face, it’s pretty clear that she’s an unwelcome visitor.”
O’Neill continued, “We open in Season 3, and Blue’s no longer there. We work out that she’s resigned, and everyone’s a little bent out of shape by it because she’s such a beloved member of the team. They misconstrue the arrival of Trigger [Claude Jabbour] as somehow being a replacement for Blue, which clearly he is not.”
This unexpected resignation raised some eyebrows because Blue resigned through a video instead of a formal letter. “The team is doing their best, obviously, to be professional and to be grownups and to sort of put a happy face on the whole thing,” O’Neill continued. “She may have moved on to something that she’s more excited by. But I think deep down, all of them know that something is not as it should be.”
Hinting at what’s to come, he added, “When we get to Episode 2, we’ll realize why.”
NCIS: Sydney Season 3 premiered on October 14, picking up right after the events of the Season 2 finale. Apart from Blue’s mysterious visitor, the finale featured an intense gunfight and revealed that Etienne was behind all the chaos. When Mackey confronted Etienne, all hell broke loose.
The next episode will air on Tuesday, October 21.
