If you’re a longtime soap fan, an announcement like this gets your ears perked up fast. Word has come down that The Young & the Restless, General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives alum Greg Vaughan is joining the cast of Beyond the Gates. He will appear in a new, mysterious role.
Greg Vaughan added to Beyond the Gates cast in a mystery role
CBS’s daytime drama Beyond the Gates has confirmed that Greg Vaughan will arrive on the show sometime later this season. Producers are keeping the details about his character tightly under wraps for now. The show’s creator and head writer, Michele Val Jean, had earlier teased that a “male soap vet” would join the ensemble. Many suspected someone with a long-time daytime pedigree.
Now, it’s official that the mystery star is Greg Vaughan. The team hasn’t revealed Vaughan’s Beyond the Gates premiere date yet. It might come out before the show hits its 200th episode. Vaughan, in an interview with EW, says, “I’m incredibly honored and excited to be joining the Beyond the Gates family this season. It’s a phenomenal ensemble and creative team.” He added that stepping into it from day one has been both “creatively fulfilling and wonderfully welcoming from all the cast and crew!”
When asked about Season 2 of Beyond the Gates, Michele Val Jean claims ongoing surprises. He said, “We just want to keep it moving, keep it interesting, keep it flowing, surprising the audience.”
“One of the things that I really wanted to do with the show was not have it look, sound, or be like other shows; I wanted to be its own little experiment and go against the audience’s expectation.”
“I see a lot of speculation online about where we’re going, and it makes me smile, because a lot of the time that’s not where we’re going.”
Greg Vaughan is no stranger to the soap world and is a daytime TV veteran. For a short while, he was also part of The Young & the Restless (2002–2003) as Diego Guittierez. This happened after the original actor exited the show. Then came General Hospital, where he played Lucky Spencer from the early 2000s.
In 2012, he joined Days of Our Lives as Eric Brady. He even won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in 2018. In addition, according to sources, Vaughan’s reportedly gearing up for a Days comeback to celebrate the show’s 60th anniversary.
