Young & Restless: What Happened in Tristan Rogers’ Final Appearance as Colin?

The Young and the Restless threw in a major surprise with the late Tristan Rogers’ final appearance as Colin Atkinson in the show. The veteran soap star appeared for a single-day stint that was shot before his death on August 15, 2025.

The 79-year-old actor put in one more important and heartfelt performance in this recent episode of Young and Restless. This will also remain one of the most offbeat episodes in recent years.

Tristan Rogers’ final episode of The Young and the Restless explained

Many might wonder how Tristan Rogers made an appearance for an entire episode despite not appearing on the show for six years.

This episode of Y&R featured only Colin, Cane, and Phyllis. In the episode, Cane flashed back to the last days of his father and discussed the future plans with Phyllis. Centered completely around Cane, this episode gave a glimpse at Colin’s final days as Cane sat by his bedside.

The majority of the episode took place in flashbacks and conversations. Cane talked to Colin, often addressing the complicated history they had shared over the years. The present-day Cane seemingly thinks about Lily and his children. He goes back, time and again, to the final interactions he had with Colin.

He also admits that he never respected or admired his father. That made him want to be better in the eyes of Charlie and Mattie. Cane talked multiple times into the camera. He explained how he created Aristotle Dumas to keep his work life separate, but it ended up consuming him.

With a contrast that he found between him and Colin in the latter’s final days, Cane seemingly made a big decision at the end of the episode. That decision should play a major role in the upcoming episodes of the show.

So, Young and Restless effectively gave Tristan Rogers a brilliant farewell with an episode that made sense, and let fans see the best of Colin once again.
