Are you eager to know how many seasons The Last of Us could get? With the series currently in the midst of its second part, many fans want to know how many additional installments can be expected. So, here are the details.
How many more The Last of Us seasons will there be after Season 2?
Speculatively, there could be at least four seasons of The Last of Us.
The Last of Us Season 2 premiered on April 13, 2025. However, even before its premiere, Deadline confirmed that the series has been renewed for another installment. The renewal is understandable given the popularity, positive reviews, and viewership the series has garnered to date. The upcoming installment will likely be adapted from the video game’s Part II and continue the story from where its predecessor leaves off. It’s speculated to come out sometime in 2027. An official release date, as well as casting and plot details, are yet to be confirmed.
Previously, in a conversation with Deadline, co-creators/executive producers Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann also subtly hinted that the series might need four installments. Mazin said, “We don’t think that we’re going to be able to tell the story even within two seasons [2 and 3] because we’re taking our time and go down interesting pathways which we did a little bit in Season 1 too.”
Explaining the necessity of a fourth installment, he further added, “We feel like it’s almost assuredly going to be the case that, as long as people keep watching and we can keep making more television — Season 3 will be significantly larger. And indeed, the story may require Season 4.” Given the comments of the showrunners, the series can be expected to go until Season 4.
All episodes of The Last of Us are available to watch on HBO.
