Ice Spice & RuPaul’s Drag Race Phoenix Feud Explained

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 contestant Phoenix responded sharply to Ice Spice‘s critique on Instagram. The 44-year-old drag performer, who originally competed on Season 3, took issue with being labeled “shy” by the hip-hop artist following her Episode 1 appearance. The passive feud began after Phoenix’s initial performance evaluation.

What happened to Ice Spice and RuPaul’s Phoenix?

Phoenix is not happy with Ice Spice‘s comment about her performance on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10. For the uninitiated, the hip-hop star was not impressed by the reality TV star’s initial performance on the show.

Ice Spice noted, “I hear you’re a legendary icon, but tonight I don’t think I would have been able to tell with how shy you were.” While fans welcomed the refreshingly honest opinions from judges, it seems like Phoenix was not on board.

Later, the star took to Instagram and shared her feelings regarding the situation. Phoenix wrote to her followers, “I appreciate the love from everyone about the Ice Spice comment! I’ll comment more and tell the funny part about this later” (via Just Jared).

She continued, “But TRUST ME WHEN I SAY! My 25 years of experience and decades of contributing to my community is what makes me an ICON! Not 3 minutes on a tv show…..”

To add fuel to the fire, Phoenix also added a subtle dig at Ice Spice on the Instagram story. The TV star wrote, “That being said, Im perfectly fine not getting ‘icon’ validation from someone who’s ‘fame’ has come from 1 song about s——- and fa—–……….”

Social media followers, however, have mixed opinions about the conflicting opinions of the duo. One fan posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Ice Spice… thank you for bringing back old-school Drag Race critiques. We needed that. We missed that. And Phoenix is mad.”

A second fan defended Phoenix, highlighting her crucial contribution to the queer community. The fan opined, “Phoenix has done more for the queer community in her entire career than most other girls. She creates spaces for queer art to be celebrated and platformed in the South.”

Meanwhile, Season 10 of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars will see some of the most-loved stars of the show return. So far, Irene the Alien, Aja, Bosco, Olivia Lux, and Phoenix have performed. Overall, 18 contestants will participate in the current season.
