What Did John Lydon Say About Taylor Swift? Duet Comment Explained

Singer John Lydon has been in the news recently thanks to his comments on Taylor Swift. After lambasting the 14-time Grammy winner for her music in an earlier interview, Lydon has now expressed his desire to collaborate with Swift.

John Lydon comments on Taylor Swift explained

During a recent interview with The Mirror, John Lydon acknowledged Taylor Swift’s stardom. In a surprising change of heart, Lydon stated that he is open to working with the pop icon on a collaborative project. “Those that do that kind of music, like Taylor, they do it very well. She deserves a go at me. Imagine that duet?” the “Grave Ride” singer said.

This news comes as a surprise to all Taylor Swift fans, as John Lydon had recently criticized the genre that Swift specializes. “There’s a whole history of that kind of singer in America: the pop teenage trivia thing,” the veteran singer commented in a February interview with NME.

Lydon went as far as to say that Swift is only continuing with her form of singing because she does not want to disappoint her fans, and that “she’s got no place to go.” He further added, “What she’s grown into is too elaborate and she’s trapped by not meaning to annoy her fanbase – oh f— off!” he said.

Lydon continued, “No really, it’s just daft. She’s got no place to go, so it’s gone into swishy ballroom-gown vibe. She’s going to be another one of those that ends up in Vegas, because that’s the only place left, and that’s no future at all, is it?”

Notably, Lydon also spoke about Lady Gaga in his NME interview, stating that he does not “like her as a human being” and that she doesn’t project “anything healthy.”
