Why ‘Trisha Paytas Baby Reincarnation Theory’ Is Trending After Pope Francis’ Death

Following the death of Pope Francis at age 88, an unusual reincarnation theory involving internet personality Trisha Paytas has regained attention online. Social media users have humorously linked Paytas’ current pregnancy to the Pope’s death, reviving the bizarre “Trisha Paytas’ baby reincarnation” trend that first gained traction in 2022.

Trisha Paytas’ baby reincarnation theory resurfaces after Pope Francis’ death

Pope Francis, who led the Catholic Church for over a decade, died on April 21, 2025, following complications from pneumonia. While millions mourned the death of the spiritual leader, a section of the internet shifted focus to Paytas, who is expecting her third child. Jokes quickly spread, suggesting that the Pope’s soul would be reincarnated as her baby.

One user on X (formerly Twitter) with the handle @thecorbmeister posted, “You’re laughing. Pope Francis is about to be reincarnated as Trisha Paytas’ baby and you’re laughing,” User @yung_ancestor posted “Oh my god I just remembered Trisha Paytas is pregnant… Welcome back, Pope.” Another user quipped, “Trisha Paytas giving birth in July… Pope Francis, you have four months to live,” back in March, demonstrating the reach of the trending theory.

The jokes follow a pattern that began when Paytas gave birth to her child on the same day Queen Elizabeth II passed away in 2022, leading to similar memes about royal reincarnation. As one user posted, “is it any coincidence that trisha paytas is pregnant again and the pope dies?? she’s collecting world leaders atp.”

She is a controversial and frequently discussed internet figure who has been at the center of many bizarre online moments. Trisha Paytas’s third pregnancy announcement earlier this year reignited the baby reincarnation theory. It states that whenever she’s expecting, a world leader dies. However, there’s no real evidence linking the two. That timing was just another piece of a humorous conspiracy theory.

Pope Francis, who led the Catholic Church for 12 years, had been recovering from pneumonia before his passing. His death came just after Easter Sunday.
