Voting opened during the April 16, 2025 episode of Survivor 48 and will remain open for one week. Host Jeff Probst first introduced this interactive format during the season 48 premiere, allowing fans to influence key elements of the 50th season.
In Round 3, fans vote on three categories: immunity necklace design, camp supplies, and gameplay twists. They choose between two necklace designs, decide whether castaways receive tools like machetes and flint or earn them, and select how frequently twists should appear during the season.
CBS stated: “The right twist at the right moment can change the game for players in exciting ways. But some fans prefer a more straightforward game where strategic alliances are all that matter” (via Entertainment Weekly). The third option asks fans to select whether twists should be frequent or rare, echoing similar debates from earlier rounds.
In earlier rounds, fans decided on tribe swaps, advantages, final four formats, and the type of reunion episode. They voted between a firemaking challenge or a final four vote, and chose whether the finale would be taped in Fiji or aired live from Los Angeles. CBS will reveal the results during Survivor 50, which premieres in 2026 under the title Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans.
Jeff Probst confirmed that fans would continue to have input throughout the planning of the season. In February 2025, he stated that the voting initiative aimed to reward longtime viewers and commemorate the franchise’s milestone.
