The Golden State Warriors currently find themselves in a slump, occupying 11th position in the Western Conference with an underwhelming record of 23-23. However, the Warriors are adopting all the measures to regain their form, as evidenced by their decision to rest Stephen Curry due to injury concerns in their recent 114-103 victory against the Utah Jazz. With fans concerned about the legendary basketballer’s health, Golden State’s head coach, Steve Kerr, has come out to provide an update on the player’s condition.
What happened to Stephen Curry?
At the time of writing, Stephen Curry has not sustained any new injury. Instead, Golden State’s bold step to leave him on the sidelines in their bout against Utah has to do with his prolonged struggles with bilateral knee tendinitis.
Talking about Curry’s chances of appearing in the Warriors’ upcoming fixture vs the Thunder, Kerr stated that he remains optimistic about the proposition. “With the back-to-back, we’re hopeful that he’ll play tomorrow. It felt like with three games in the next four nights with his knees where they are, let’s be smart about it and go from there,” he stated.
Kerr also emphasized the importance of resting Stephen Curry due to his ongoing injury troubles. “We take it day-to-day, week-to-week, and it made sense to give him the night off and try to get him right for the rest of the week,” the veteran coach noted, as per ESPN.
While the four-time NBA champion could still participate in the Warriors’ clash vs the Thunder, he has already missed parts of four back-to-backs this season. Therefore, the Golden State management has chosen to tread carefully with Stephen Curry in order to curtail his injury issues as soon as possible.
Despite his questionable fitness, Curry has impressed whenever he has had the chance to set foot on the court. At the time of writing, the 36-year-old point guard has averaged 22.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists in 37 appearances so far.
