Based on the 1989 namesake book by Pier Vittorio Tondelli, Separate Rooms is an upcoming drama movie directed by Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino. Is there a Separate Rooms release date?

Separate Rooms’s release date could arrive sometime in 2025.

In late March 2024, various outlets reported that British actor Josh O’Connor was in “advanced talks” to star in Separate Rooms as Leo. O’Connor has also worked with Guadagnino in the upcoming tennis film Challengers.

Some sources reportedly told Variety that that O’Connor was studying Italian for the role even though he hadn’t officially become part of the project. Francesca Manieri developed the screenplay from Tondelli’s book. He and Guadagnino previously collaborated on We Are Who We Are, a coming-of-age drama series that aired in 2020 in the US on HBO and in Italy on Sky Atlantic. Lorenzo Mieli will produce the film, with Fremantle serving as the production company.

Guadagnino revealed in March 2024 that the production for Separate Rooms will begin “soon.” So, it can potentially come out sometime in 2025.
