Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie: Is He Making The Prisoner Remake or Bond 26?

Now that Oppenheimer is truly done, people are looking forward to Christopher Nolan‘s next movie. Will it be a horror movie? Is he directing a remake of The Prisoner or will he take on the new James Bond movie? Here’s everything you need to know.

Which movie is Christopher Nolan directing after Oppenheimer?

Christopher Nolan’s next project hasn’t been revealed yet, but he is rumored to be working on its script.

Per Puck, Nolan is currently developing a new screenplay, but his next project hasn’t been revealed yet. Back in February, he told Variety that he’d love to make a horror movie. He said:

“I think horror films are very interesting because they depend on very cinematic devices, it really is about a visceral response to things and so, at some point, I’d love to make a horror film.”

But he also stated that a horror movie requires “a really exceptional idea” and that those can be “few and far between”. He further added that he hasn’t yet found a story that could lend itself to full-on horror. So, if he is supposedly working on a script right now, then it may not be a horror film. Instead, it could be a remake of an old 1960s series.

Is Christopher Nolan directing The Prisoner remake or James Bond 26?

While Nolan denied directing the next 007 flick, a recent report has suggested that he could be working on a remake of 1967’s The Prisoner.

Back in November 2023, Nolan said that there was no truth to the rumors of him taking on Bond 26. But Variety’s recent report suggests that some of its sources point to him working on a remake of the British mystery-thriller series, “The Prisoner.” It came out in 1967 and was created by Patrick McGoohan.

The official synopsis of the series reads:

“After resigning, a secret agent is abducted and taken to what looks like an idyllic village, but is really a bizarre Kafkaesque prison. His warders demand information. He gives them nothing, but only tries to escape.”

Nolan was initially going to direct this remake back in 2009. But he left the project when AMC released a six-part miniseries titled The Prisoners, starring Jim Caviezel. Now, he could be circling back to it. But Variety also stated that some other sources think he’d work on an entirely new screenplay, now that the Awards season is done.

So, there’s no confirmed answer for Nolan’s next movie. But Comingsoon will provide updates as soon as they arrive.
