Studio Polon developed this fantasy anime TV show based on the Japanese light novel series of the same name written by Ryūta Kijima and illustrated by Sando. The plot follows Rud, the shielder or tank in the hero’s party. With a defense stat of 9999, Rud is extremely good at his job. However, unlike other adventurers, he doesn’t seek fame and fortune in the dungeons. Instead, he is looking for a cure for his ailing younger sister. After the hero, Kyglas, throws him out of the group, declaring that they don’t need a shielder, Rud decides to find his own destiny.

“Rud, a shielder with a defense stat of 9999, serves as a tank for the Hero’s Party as they carry out raids in labyrinths. When the tyrannical hero suddenly kicks him out of the party, saying his skill is “useless,” Rud makes his way back to his hometown. Along the way, he saves a young girl, and she reveals the true nature of his skill… which turns out to be incredibly powerful!”
