According to the blog site Bloody Disgusting, a movie based on the unofficial “Willy Wonka Experience” event in Glasgow is being made. This movie will reportedly revolve around The Unknown, a figure with a silver mask that has nothing to do with Willy Wonka, but became viral online shortly after the event took place in February.
The “Willy Wonka experience” was this year’s version of the disastrous Fyre Festival, Bloody Disgusting reported. In the event, AI-generated artwork was being used to lure the Glasgow public into what seemed like an immersive Willy Wonka-themed experience. However, the visitors found themselves in a barely decorated warehouse using dollar store items, filled with characters that seemed to be pulled straight out of horror movies.
The Unknown movie is being made by Kaledonia Pictures. They told Bloody Disgusting that they are gearing up for production and eyeing a late 2024 release, adding:
“We are excited to begin production and look forward to sharing more with you as soon as possible. We are actually only a few miles from the event, so it is quite surreal to see Glasgow all over social media, worldwide.”
