Spider-Man: The Animated Series Reboot: Will the Show Be Revived on Disney Plus?

With the 90s X-Men: The Animated Series having gotten a revival on Disney Plus as X-Men ’97, fans are asking if the 90s Spider-Man: The Animated Series will also come back in the form of a reboot. Here is everything you need to know.

Will Spider-Man: The Animated Series get rebooted and revived?

Spider-Man: The Animated Series has not yet been confirmed to get rebooted and revived on Disney Plus. However, it could happen if the original series writer John Semper Jr. gets a call from Marvel to help revive the show.

John Semper Jr., the writer of Spider-Man: The Animated Series, took to X (formerly Twitter) on February 28 and tweeted saying sarcastically that even though he was not credited or thanked for “creating the Spider-Verse concept”, the team behind the Spider-Verse films is “welcome anyway”. Further, on being asked by a fan if he would like to continue the story of The Animated Series, like X-Men is doing, Semper said:

“All they have to do is call me. I’m here, and I’d certainly consider doing it.”

Semper Jr. previously addressed the chances of doing the series revival in a 2022 Comicbook interview, claiming he would happily do it as long as he had creative freedom. However, he concurred at the time that a revival would not happen due to studio politics between Disney and Sony.

Even though a revival for Spider-Man: The Animated Series has not yet been confirmed, it could happen as various rumors and reports across the internet claim Marvel is interested in reviving old animated shows. Marvel Studios is also starting their new Marvel Animation banner with X-Men ’97, which makes the possibility all the more likely.
