Who are the Gorosei in One Piece?
The Gorosei or Five Elders are the highest-ranking authority in the World Government. They’re also the highest-ranking Celestial Dragons. This means they hold the highest authority over the world. They command the World Government and the organizations under it such as the Marines, Cipher Pol, and the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
The public knows they’re the highest-ranking officials, but secretly, they’re under Imu, the government’s shadow leader.
We first learn about the Five Elders during the Jaya arc, but we won’t know their names until the Egghead arc. The Gorosei names and titles are:
- Saint Jaygarcia Saturn (Warrior God of Science and Defense)
- Saint Marcus Mars (Warrior God of Environment)
- Saint Topman Warcury (Warrior God of Justice)
- Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro (Warrior God of Finance)
- Saint Shepherd Ju Peter (Warrior God of Agriculture)
We don’t know how long they have been in power and how old they are. There are speculations about the Gorosei being immortal, but there’s no confirmation of this so far. For example, Saturn currently looks the same as he did almost 40 years ago, during the God Valley Incident. It seems Bonney’s age-changing ability doesn’t affect him either.
What are the Devil Fruits of the Gorosei in One Piece?
The names of the Devil Fruits of the Gorosei have not yet been revealed. All of them seem to have an awakened Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit. The types of creatures they can turn into were revealed in chapter 1110. Here are their beast forms:
- Saturn: gyuki (spider yokai)
- Warcury: hōki or fengxi (boar-like monster)
- Mars: itsumade (bird yokai with a snake body)
- Ju Peter: sandworm
- Nusjuro: bakotsu (skeletal horse yokai)
Each of them has multiple forms, such as a gigantic Beast Form and hybrid form. They are also highly skilled in using Haki. For some reason, they can also communicate telepathically with each other.
