A recent pitch for an animated Batman Beyond movie has gotten fans excited about it. But has the film been greenlit with a director already attached? Here’s everything you need to know.
Is there going to be a Batman Beyond animated movie?
A Batman Beyond animated movie has been pitched to Warner Bros. and DC Studios, but it isn’t confirmed to happen yet.
Writer-director Patrick Harpin pitched a Batman Beyond animated movie to Warner Bros. and DC Studios, teaming up with one of the production designers of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse, Yuhki Demers.
In the above-mentioned Instagram post, Demers shared a tease at his Batman Beyond pitch. He states that their pitch has been able to change WB’s “there is absolutely no way we can do a Beyond movie” to “Maybe” within 5 months. Now, they wish to get James Gunn’s attention, probably by using the excitement of the fans for a potential Beyond animated feature. But is it a done deal already?
Has James Gunn greenlit a Batman Beyond movie and is Patrick Harpin directing?
James Gunn and Peter Safran are yet to greenlight a Batman Beyond animated film. But if it happens, then Patrick Harpin could write and direct it.
In the past, fandoms have proven to be instrumental in getting films greenlit. Zack Snyder’s Justice League happened on MAX due to constant fan outcry. The first Deadpool movie was also greenlit based on the way people reacted to its leaked footage. So, if enough fans raise their voices, James Gunn and Peter Safran could consider making the animated Batman Beyond project happen.
If it gets greenlit, My Dad the Bounty Hunter director, Patrick Harpin, could write and direct it with Yuhki Demers co-producing it while also being involved in its production design. But nothing is confirmed at the moment of writing.
