Why did Deontay Wilder leave The Traitors early?
Deontay Wilder likely left The Traitors Season 2 because he couldn’t endure the feeling of hurting his friends anymore.
Deontay Wilder didn’t officially reveal the reason why he left The Traitors. But we have a few clues hinting at why he walked away. During the show’s intense episode 3, he rallied the contestants to banish his friend Maksim Chmerkovskiy, calling him a “Traitor.” It led to his exit.
But when Maks turned out to be “Faithful,” Deontay was visibly upset and emotional. He said:
“I don’t know how much more I can go on. My heart. I can’t do this no more.”
Following that, the viewers and the contestants were all left surprised to see Deontay’s portrait marked with a red “X” in episode 4. While his disappearance wasn’t discussed, he had already dropped a hint about why he left.
Before episode 4 streamed, he told Screen Rant:
“I’m a people’s person and I love people…we all need each other. You get a lot of traitors in my profession, so I’m used that world. I think my background, my space of where I come from it fits me better.”
So, it’s likely that he just couldn’t handle betraying any more of his friends and loved ones after what he had to do with Maks. Hence, he decided to leave the show.
Will Deontay return in The Traitors season 3?
Given the way Deontay Wilder left the show, it’s unlikely for him to be back in Season 3.
With Season 3 being far away from its release, Deontay’s return isn’t confirmed. One possibility could be him returning as an intruder, similar to how Below Deck’s Kate Chastain came back from The Traitors Season 1 to Season 2.
But considering the reason he left, he may not want to be back unless his reason for leaving was different than what’s mentioned above.
