Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to be one of the biggest franchise sequels of 2024 and fans are curious if Caesar and Cornelius are in the movie. Here is all you need to know about both characters’ involvement in the film.
Is Caesar in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?
No, Caesar is not in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Unfortunately, Caesar is not going to be in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Caesar died at the end of 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes, after finding a new home for the apes, an oasis.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is instead set to focus on a completely new protagonist, Noa, a young common chimpanzee.
However, Caesar’s legacy will reportedly be a key part of the film as Noa goes on a difficult journey to determine the apes’ future after their leader Proximus Caesar perverts Caesar’s teachings by enslaving other ape clans to scour remaining human technology. As hinted by the two recently released trailers.
Despite this, Caesar could still possibly appear in the film via Noa’s visions or possible flashbacks. This would not be unusual for the franchise as Toby Kebbell’s Koba made a brief appearance in Caesar’s visions in War for the Planet of the Apes following his death at the end of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Is Cornelius in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?
No, Cornelius has not been confirmed for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, as of writing.
Some fans originally speculated that Noa was an older Cornelius before the official reveal of the name of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ protagonist. War for the Planet of the Apes seemed to tease Cornelius, who was an infant in the movie, as the new protagonist of the franchise moving forward, but this does not appear to be the case.
