After Steven Yeun dropped out of the MCU’s Thunderbolts movie, the hunt for a new Sentry began. But a new report suggests that Marvel has already found its new Robert Reynolds. Who is playing the character and why is he replacing Steven Yeun? Here’s all you need to know.
Has Thunderbolts cast a new Sentry actor?
Lewis Pullman has reportedly been cast as the new Sentry in MCU’s Thunderbolts.
While Marvel didn’t announce it, a new report from Deadline about Geraldine Viswanathan replacing Ayo Edebiri also mentions that Marvel has already cast the Steven Yeun replacement. Lewis Pullman is the one stepping in to play Robert Reynolds, aka the Sentry, and possibly, the Void.
Pullman is known for his roles in 2023’s Lessons in Chemistry and The Starling Girl. But one of his most notable roles is in Top Gun: Maverick, where he played the lovable Bob.
Now, he is set to play another ‘Bob’ in the MCU. The 31-year-old American actor stands 6’0” feet tall and has a skinny build. While he is expected to bulk up a little, the Sentry suit is said to have a lot of padding.
Why Steven Yeun was replaced as the Sentry?
Steven Yeun reportedly left the Thunderbolts movie due to scheduling conflicts.
The MCU’s Thunderbolts was initially supposed to be shot in 2023 and released in December 2024. But the writers’ and actors’ strikes led to most projects, including Thunderbolts, getting delayed. As a result, its filming was also pushed to 2024, which further led to Yeun dropping out of the project.
Now, Lewis Pullman will reportedly be playing the rumored villain who takes on the Thunderbolts team. He’d be going up against antiheroes including Yelena Belova’s Black Widow, the Winter Solider, US Agent, Red Guardian, Taskmaster, and Ghost. It’ll be interesting to see if Zemo will also be returning.
