Familiar scooper DanielRPK revealed through his Patreon that Paramount is now developing a new kind of live-action superhero movie. Per his scoop, Paramount’s The Maxx will be based on the comic that debuted in 1993 and 1995’s MTV Animation cartoon of the same name.
Its story involves a hulking purple superhero known as The Maxx, and his friend Julie Winters, who is a freelance social worker. Since the film hasn’t been officially announced, its development update needs to be considered as another rumor and taken with a grain of salt. But it’s also worth noting that Daniel Richtman’s scoops prove to be reliable more often than not. So, it’s likely for The Maxx update to be true as well.
Is Channing Tatum playing The Maxx in the movie?
Channing Tatum is rumored to be playing the purple-clad superhero, Maxx in the upcoming movie.
As per DanielRPK, Tatum has already signed on for the role. Tatum has taken on leading roles in several Paramount blockbusters before, both in the G.I. Joe franchise and more recently in The Lost City. The main character lives in a cardboard box but keeps making a shift between the “real” world and a more primitive subconscious fantasy world that is ruled by him. He shares a strange relationship with Julie and tries to protect her from a serial killer named Mr. Gone in both worlds.
With Tatum potentially being involved, it’ll be interesting to see if Maxx will be created using prosthetics or motion capture CGI.

Crystal Moselle is rumored to be the writer and director of The Maxx.
DanielRPK also stated that Skate Kitchen and That One Day director, Crystal Moselle will write the script as well as direct the film.
