Ever since 2013’s A Good Day To Die Hard, fans have been waiting to see Bruce Willis star in another new Die Hard movie. But will he be back as John McClane one more time? Here’s all you need to know.
Will Bruce Willis return to play John McClane?
No, Bruce Willis will not be returning to play John McClane as he has left his acting career behind and is currently trying to recover from FTD.
The 68-year-old actor had to retire from acting because he was going through a disorder called aphasia. But in early 2023, his family announced that he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia/FTD. Since then, we’ve seen multiple updates on his condition and recovery. But his situation hasn’t improved enough for him to make a comeback to acting.
The question of his return has been brought up by many because familiar scooper Daniel Richtman shared via his Paetron that a new Die Hard movie was under development. But it won’t bring Willis back as it’ll explore the story of a young John McClane instead.
Which actors could play a younger John McClane?
If a Die Hard prequel were to be made, then a few good choices to play a young John McClane could be Taron Egerton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and a few others.
Given his acting range and history with action roles, Taron Egerton could be the perfect choice for a Die Hard prequel. Another amazing choice would be Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who already played the younger version of Bruce Willis’ character in Looper and could do so again in a Die Hard prequel.
Besides these two actors, others who could be considered are:
- Alden Ehrenreich
- Aaron Taylor-Johnson
- Dacre Montgomery
- Josh Hutcherson
But it’ll be interesting to see if a Die Hard prequel ever comes to light!
