Project Power premiered on August 14, 2020. If you are wondering whether there will be Project Power 2, this is what we have discovered.
Here’s all we know about Project Power 2 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there a Project Power 2 release date?
There is no Project Power 2 release date as the sequel hasn’t been greenlit yet.
As of December 2023, Netflix hasn’t announced the development of the Project Power sequel. When the film came out, co-director Henry Joost said that there were elements in the story that could be explored in the future. Referring to the unresolved plot thread involving the Matriarch and the suitcase filled with the Power pills, the filmmaker told Digital Spy, “No, it wasn’t resolved. We never shot anything to resolve that. But I’m happy you picked up on that, because I think that’s an interesting thing to think about: what happened to that briefcase of pills out in the world? And who exactly is the Matriarch, and what is she up to?”
Joost later added, “We wanted to design it [the first film] as a fully enclosed, satisfying, entertaining story. I think that there are definitely many more directions the story could go, and the concept is so much fun, and you could imagine it. And we did have thoughts about it going in other directions, but I wouldn’t want to jinx it. We just want to see how the audience feels first.”
Project Power garnered largely positive responses from both the critics and the general audience, but not much has been heard about a prospective sequel since its release, and everyone involved in it has moved on to other projects. As things stand now, Project Power 2 is unlikely to happen. And even if it does go into production in the future, it might be a while before it comes out. CoimngSoon will provide an update if the circumstances change.
The cast includes Jamie Foxx as Art, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Frank Shaver, Dominique Fishback as Robin Reilly, Colson Baker as Newt Lasalle, Rodrigo Santoro as Biggie, Amy Landecker as Gardner, Allen Maldonado as Landry, Kyanna Simone Simpson as Tracy, Rose Bianco as the Matriarch, Andrene Ward-Hammond as Irene, Courtney B. Vance as Captain Crane, Casey Neistat as Moto, Jim Klock as Mr. Luker, Luke Hawx as Bouncer, and more.
The official synopsis for Power Project reads:
“An ex-soldier, a teen and a cop collide in New Orleans as they hunt for the source behind a dangerous new pill that grants users temporary superpowers.”
