Why were Archie’s teeth falling out in Leave the World Behind?
Archie’s teeth could have fallen out due to a weird bug bite or Havanna Syndrome after being exposed to screeching noises in Leave the World Behind.
Among the six main characters in Leave the World Behind, Archie Sandford suffered the most. First, he was bitten by a mysterious unknown bug. Following that, he was exposed to the unexplained loud noise much longer than the others because he only covered his ears after a while. Then, his body began to burn up.
But the pinnacle of his suffering came when his teeth suddenly fell out. It wasn’t due to any physical jaw injury. He woke up and simply felt his teeth loosening up in his mouth. Viewers see him pluck out six of his teeth on screen before he puked. He revealed that this could have happened because of the bug that had bitten him the day before.
To that, even G.H. Scott agreed that a bug or a tick could be responsible for his condition, with facing some strange symptoms of Lyme disease. Unfortunately, the Sandfords and Scotts couldn’t confirm this as they were unable to reach the hospital.
But seeking a way to help Archie later in the film, G.H. Scott and Clay Sandford reach out to Danny. He suggested that instead of a bug, Archie’s teeth could have fallen out due to Havanna Syndrome. In the real world, it was reported that quite a few people in Cuba went through it in 2016.
Then, Danny revealed that microwave radiation was beamed out through sound, which led to many people losing their teeth and falling sick. So, the unexplained loud noise heard by Archie could have been the cause of his health issues, vomiting, and loss of teeth, as he was suffering from Havanna Syndrome.
