A fourth movie beyond the original trilogy was put under development, but it was canceled as Tom Cruise’s The Mummy (2017) was given a go instead. But in recent times, a fake poster featuring the title “The Mummy: Fountain of the Persian Knights” has been spreading across the internet.
The poster states that the film will arrive in 2025 and goes along with the following rumored logline:
“Three years after their son went missing and presumed lost on a perilous quest for the legendary fountain, a glimmer of hope emerges. Rick discovers that their son may be alive, held captive by malevolent forces. Join Universal Pictures in 2025 for a gripping tale of family, danger, and the unyielding pursuit of hope.”
However, both the poster and the logline aren’t real, and The Mummy 4 is not happening.
Is Brendan Fraser returning for The Mummy 4?
No, Brendan Fraser is not returning as Rick O’Connell for The Mummy 4, and neither is Rachel Weiz as Evelyn Carnahan. The film isn’t happening!
The aforementioned rumor suggested that the duo would make a return in the present day, but that isn’t the case. earlier in 2023, Fraser did tell Deadline that he would be open to returning if The Mummy 4 happens. He said:
“It’s kind of an open-ended question for some time now. I’m not opposed to it, I don’t know an actor who doesn’t want a job. I don’t think I’ve been this famous and unsalaried at the same time in my professional life so sign me up!”
But later, he also told Variety that “someone came up with the right conceit” for his comeback. Now since there’s no Mummy movie in development, we shouldn’t expect Fraser’s return just yet.
