Anyone But You Age Rating Explained: Is It Rated ‘R’?

While Anyone But You is yet to be officially rated, fans looking forward to it wonder if it will get an R rating. Can kids watch the movie, and is it safe for them? Here’s all you need to know about Anyone But You’s potential adult-oriented rating.

Will Anyone But You be rated “R”?

Even though it hasn’t been officially rated, footage from CinemaCon and the trailers revealed that Anyone But You features quite a bit of nudity. So, it is likey to be rated R.

While most romantic comedies usually go for a PG-13 rating, Anyone But You has always felt the opposite. Even before its marketing material teased a raunchy narrative involving Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, reports from CinemaCon 2023 back in April had already stated that it’ll be R-rated.

As per Screen Rant, the movie features “Lots of naked scenes.” Therefore it will likely receive an R rating for some sexual content and graphic nudity.

Is Anyone But You safe for kids?

Considering that the film is set to feature “naked scenes,” it isn’t considered to be safe for kids to watch.

Parents are advised not to take their children to screenings of Anyone But You due to its reportedly mature content. Additionally, the film leans towards an adult-oriented story that might not be suitable for kids.

Besides Powell and Sweeney, it stars Alexandra Shipp, Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, and Michele Hurd. Other than them, GaTa, Darren Barnet, Bryan Brown, Hadley Robinson, and Joe Davidson also play small roles in the movie.

The official of Sony’s Anyone But You states:

“In the comedy Anyone But You, Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold — until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do – pretend to be a couple.”
