Sony’s upcoming The Karate Kid 2024 remake is seemingly combining two different universes of the franchise by uniting Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio. But who will they be playing in the upcoming movie? Here’s all you need to know.

As per the new casting call video, Jackie Chan will reprise his role as Mr. Han in The Karate Kid 2024.
In Sony’s The Karate Kid announcement video, Jackie Chan appeared alongside the original Karate Kid star, Ralph Macchio. The video can be seen below:
Both the actors have confirmed that they will star in the upcoming Karate Kid movie together. The video introduced Jackie Chan as “Mr. Han.” So, we can be sure that he will be reprising his role from The Karate Kid remake of 2010, which saw Jaden Smith become the king of Kung Fu in China.
But now that Sony has announced an open casting call for a Chinese-American actor to be the next face of the franchise, it’ll be interesting to see who joins Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio in the upcoming movie.
Who is Ralph Macchio playing in the new Karate Kid movie?
The casting announcement video of The Karate Kid 2024 introduced Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso. So, he would be reprising his role from the original trilogy and the Cobra Kai series.
Cobra Kai Season 6 is confirmed to be the final one. So, after the surprising new announcement, we can expect the upcoming season to lead us into The Karate Kid 2024. While this hasn’t been confirmed by Sony, it certainly seems to be the direction that the studio might be taking.
Whether other Cobra Kai characters such as Johnny Lawrence, Miguel Diaz, or Robby Keene get to cameo or have supporting roles alongside Danny LaRusso and Mr. Han remains to be seen. But with the above announcement video, we might see Mr. Han and Mr. Miyagi’s teachings combined.
The new Karate Kid movie is set to arrive on December 13, 2024. Will it be able to make its release date? We’ll know for sure once the leading actor in the film gets cast.
