The Crown: Has It Been Canceled After Season 6 & Removed From Netflix?

With The Crown Season 6 beginning to stream on Netflix, many fans who were hoping to see the show get extended to the “Megxit” event are left asking if it has been canceled. Here’s all you need to know about The Crown’s future seasons.

Did The Crown get canceled after season 6?

The Crown did not get canceled, but Season 6 is confirmed to bring its story to an end.

The Crown Season 6 was announced to be the last one. The show wasn’t canceled by Netflix as series creator and showrunner Peter Morgan always planned to have 6 seasons in the show. Each season would cover almost a decade of Elizabeth II’s reign from 1952. The latest season will cover the years between 1997 and 2005.

It picks up from where Season 5 left us, and the first four episodes bring the events of Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997 to life. The final six episodes comprising The Crown Season 6 Part 2 will span across the leftover years until 2005.

Has The Crown been removed from Netflix?

No, The Crown has not been removed. It just brings its narrative to an end with Season 6.

It is one of Netflix’s biggest budgeted shows and continues to be its prime original among many others. So, it obviously has not been removed from Netflix and will continue to stay for the foreseeable.

After starting on November 4, 2016, with Season 1, it will finally end with Season 6 Part 2 on December 14, 2023.

The official synopsis of The Crown Season 6 reads:

“Inspired by real events, this fictional dramatization tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that shaped her reign.”
